Campus Life

Brunel is a campus-based university, so virtually everything you need is moments away. You are never more than a ten minute walk from halls of residence, catering, social, sports and study facilities, lecture theatres, the Library and support services.

From restaurants, bars and a club to gardens, the Atrium and the Quad, there really is something for everyone – whether you want to relax and unwind, pursue your interests, have a night out or try something new.

About the campus

Brunel is a campus-based university, and students on site are never more than 10 minutes away from halls of residence, catering, social and sports facilities, lecture theatres, the Library, the Computer Centre or welfare services. We have invested £300 million redeveloping the campus in the last few years, with many new and refurbished social, teaching and sporting facilities, and more green spaces outside.

Striking 1960s architecture sits alongside outstanding modern designs, offset by gardens and interconnecting pathways. Facilities on campus include:

  • UEFA-class football facilities, competition-standard athletics complex and refurbished sports and fitness centre;
  • Extended library building, holding a hugely increased book and journal collection, more computer workstations and group study areas, an Assistive Technology Centre for disabled students, and a café;
  • 34 halls of residence, including a new residential complex that brings our on-campus accommodation up to 4,549 rooms;
  • New Health Sciences and Social Care building, opened by Her Majesty the Queen;
  • Renovated Lecture Centre, with high‑tech teaching equipment and improved social and study facilities;
  • Spectacular new Engineering and Design annex and atrium, including an impressive exhibition space;
  • Student facilities complex with a stunning atrium entrance opening onto a dining space, bars, the Students’ Union and retail outlets.

Social life on campus revolves around the Students’ Union, whose student-elected staff help provide you with the best possible experience. Brunel’s modern facilities, bars, refectory, shops, café, central atrium and refurbished nightclub provide the perfect setting for a night out, trying new activities or relaxing after lectures.

The Union is proud of the diversity of clubs and societies that you can join and even help run – everything from Animé Society to Snow Club. If your interests are not represented, they’ll help you start your own group.

“Getting the chance to study, live and be friends with people from all over the world added so much to the experience”‘
