Deadlines vary by program and programs may fill in advance of the deadline. As such, we encourage you to complete your application as early as possible. In order to review your application, we need to have your completed application form, fee(s), and official supporting documents.
International students will need to take into account the additional time required to obtain a study permit when applying for your program of choice, as it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the proper documentation in place prior to beginning your studies. As it may take several months in some countries to obtain your permit, it is important that you visit theCitizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website to review information on current processing times. We recommend that you submit your application at least 6 months in advance of your program start date to ensure that you have allowed enough time to receive your CIC Letter of Acceptance.
Application fees
A non-refundable application fee is required for all applications. Applications submitted without the required application fee can only be kept for 30 calendar days, after which it will be cancelled. All applicants who have completed post-secondary education outside of Canada are also subject to a credential evaluation. For more information about fees, please review our ancillary fees page.
Adjudication (application review)
We will review your application once all of your application documentation is complete. If we don’t have enough information to accurately process your application, we may request additional information.
Meeting the admission requirements set out by the University does not guarantee admission to a program of study. Royal Roads University reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone, and admission decisions are deemed final.
Admissions decision
After your file is complete and all required documents have been received, your application will undergo a review to determine your admissibility. The application review process will not generally take more than 4-6 weeks but can vary for many reasons. A few examples that may affect normal timelines commonly include: internal volume, Flexible Admission assessments, and files requiring international credential evaluation.
ACCEPTANCE
Upon receiving a letter of offer, you will need to submit your decision and pay the tuition deposit prior to the stated deadline, though it’s important to note that seats are limited and students are admitted or waitlisted only in order of their paid acceptance. Once your acceptance and tuition deposit has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation of your admission status. If you’re an international student, please note that the initial offer of admission from Royal Roads University will not meet the needs of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for the purpose of applying for your study permit. Royal Roads University will issue you a Letter of Acceptance in order to support your study permit application, as per CIC’s requirements, once you have paid your deposit and secured your seat in the program.
CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE
Conditional acceptances may be issued to applicants for various reasons. To be eligible for admission, applicants will be required to satisfy all conditions outlined in the letter of offer by the date specified. Failure to clear the condition(s) will result in an automatic deferral (to the next available intake) or cancellation of admission.
WAITLISTS
Many programs fill before the application deadline. As such, applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. In the event an intake is full, applicants will have the option of accepting a waitlisted seat or a confirmed seat in a future offering. Waitlisted students will receive regular updates confirming their position on the waitlist and, as positions shift, students will be admitted automatically as seats become available. Students who have applied online will also be able to monitor their waitlist position by logging in to your accountat any time.
UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS
Unfortunately, not all applicants may be accepted to the program they apply for, including some that may appear eligible. In most cases, applicants would be welcome to submit a new application to a future intake or apply to another program.
The tuition fees you see listed here are for the entire program, unless otherwise noted.
