University of Salford
Overview
The University of Salford is a public research university located in Salford, England, approximately 1.5 miles west of Manchester city centre.
At the start of the 20th century, mechanical engineering, chemical works, textiles and construction dominated the industrial scene in Salford. This heavily influenced the choice of subjects offered in the nine departments initially opened. These were Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Applied Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Building, Dyeing, Spinning & Weaving, Domestic, and Art. Some 1,240 students registered for the first session in these departments. There were originally 19 members of staff.
Why choose University of Salford?
There are over 3,000 international students from more than 100 countries currently studying at the University of Salford. Read the blogs and watch the videos of some of our students to get advice and find out more about what it is really like to be a student of The University of Salford.
Come to Salford and you’ll be based on a leafy, riverside campus that is only one and half miles (3km) from Manchester city centre – so you’ll get the best of both worlds.
With the opening of our MediaCity campus (right next to the BBC) we now have four campuses. Three are within a 10 minute walk of each other and the fourth, at MediaCity, is connected via a free bus service that runs every 10 minutes.
We’re also continuing to invest heavily in our campus and facilities, to ensure you get a great university experience.
In September 2015 the doors will open to our new £81m student accommodation complex with en-suite bedrooms and an on-site cinema room, gym, TV and games room, group study lounges and a launderette. Students will also benefit from shops, restaurants and cafés nearby as part of the lively campus environment.
The University is also investing £55m in the New Adelphi Building which will open to students and staff in early 2016. This building will be home to the School of Arts & Mediaamong other subject areas and will provide a contemporary gateway to the campus. STEP 1: Respond to your offer
If you have applied for undergraduate study, you must let UCAS know that the University of Salford is your first choice. If you have applied for postgraduate study, you must let the University know that you want to accept your offer, you can do this by returning the reply slip attached to your offer letter or emailing pg-admissions@salford.ac.uk
STEP 2: Meet the conditions of your offer
If your offer is conditional upon academic results or proof of English language, get these to us as soon as you can. The payment of a study deposit to an institution shows the seriousness of your intent to study there. The amount of deposit and how you need to pay will be detailed in your offer letter. If you are a sponsored student you will not have to pay a study deposit as long as the University has been supplied with proof of sponsorship from your sponsor.
STEP 4: Receive Certificate of Acceptance for Study (CAS)
Once you have met all of the conditions of your offer (including the deposit payment) and provided the information we required from you, a CAS Reference is generated by the UKBA. This will be emailed to you directly with details of what has been confirmed during this process.
