Why choose York University YUELI?
This class aims to introduce students to and familiarize them with the structure of the IELTS test and provide materials for practice in all areas of the test. In addition, the course is designed to equip students with effective (Listening/Reading/Speaking/Writing) skills and strategies needed to undertake the exam with confidence. Students will also be provided with regular oral/written feedback and advice from the instructor(s).
The Academic Program is YUELI’s university preparation program. It is a full-time, 7 level program for non-native speakers of English. Levels 1-3 focus on helping build a solid foundation of English proficiency in all four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. Levels 4, 5b, 5a and 6 focus on the kinds of language, critical thinking and study skills required to be a successful student in a university or college setting where English is the language of instruction.
* Please note that Level 5 consists of two levels, 5a and 5b. Most students will need to complete both before moving onto Level 6.

All applicants must:
- Have graduated from high school and be academically admissible.
- Have attained a language test score of at least IELTS 6 OR TOEFL iBT 75 OR TOEFL paper 550, or attain a suitable grade on a YUELI language test. YUELI language testing will be held throughout the year in various cities around the world.
Located on the York University Keele campus, students can experience life in the exciting multi-cultural city of Toronto.
All YUELI students have access to the full range of excellent York University campus services, including residence, libraries, computer facilities, sports and fitness facilities, a health care centre, student clubs, 24-hour campus security services, and restaurants. YUELI’s own student resource centre, the Nexus, has computers and an extensive library.
Completion of Level 6 of the Academic Program meets the requirements to enter many undergraduate and graduate programs at York University.
The Academic Program’s Linguistic Mix Policy ensures that the student body consists of a well-balanced mix of linguistic backgrounds. This establishes English as the language of communication among students and provides an experience of learning with a diverse student body. The program’s in-class learning is complemented with interesting extra-curricular activities such as trips, sporting events, musical performances, and clubs.
